Hello @Tristan, I’d be happy to assist you.

The word “prosaic” you’ve been focusing on is an adjective. It originates from the late 16th-century Latin word “prosaicus” which means “relating to prose”. The term is often used in English to describe something that is dull, ordinary or lacking in excitement. It is often used in somewhat formal contexts.

To use ‘prosaic’ in a sentence, you could say:

1. “While the film’s special effects are impressive, its storyline is disappointingly prosaic.”
2. “The meeting ended in a prosaic manner, with no significant decisions made.”

As you can see, the word is used to describe uninteresting or monotonous aspects. This word may seem a bit formal, but it’s effective in revealing the bald truths about things that are common or unexciting.

In terms of remembering this word, you might consider several strategies. First, associate the word with prose, which is a type of writing that can be ordinary or dull compared to the more flowing and expressive poetry. With this in mind, ‘prosaic’ can be seen as relating to the ‘ordinary’ qualities of prose. Also, try using it in different sentences and contexts, as the repetition and application can help cement the word in your memory.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if there’s anything else you want to know.
